Who Can Participate?
Project Home is open to those who need the service and meet the qualifications outlined by the Frederick County Department of Social Services. The program is primarily designed for:
- Persons who are at risk.
- Persons who have no relatives or families.
- Persons whose families are unable to adequately provide for them or unable to accept the responsibility.
- Persons who need an alternative to independent living in the community or to an institution.
- Persons unable to care for themselves in their own homes.
Referral should be made through the Service Intake of the Frederick County Department of Social Services.
Project Home Providers
The provider is a family unit which meets the qualifications for providing care and family living in their home and receives payment for providing supervision and care for a resident in cooperation with the Frederick County Department of Social Services. Providers are selected on the basis of their patience, genuine interest and sincerity in providing care for elderly or disabled persons.
Who Can Be A Provider?
Any family wanting to provide this service and able to meet the qualifications specified by the Frederick County Department of Social Services may qualify and be certified as a provider. Standards have been outlined which stipulate that homes in the program: - Must meet certain fire, safety, sanitation and health standards. - Cannot accept more than three residents. - Must provide adequate living space. The compatability of provider and resident is evaluated prior to placement.
Clothing, Personal Maintenance
The resident will be allowed a personal allowance to cover cost of toilet articles and other personal needs.
Activities, Interests, Recreation
Every effort should be made by the provider to make the resident feel like a member of the family and he should be encouraged to pursue interests, hobbies or plans toward rehabilitation. The resident should be involved in making decisions regarding the use of his time.
Religious Interests
Every effort should be made to allow the resident to pursue his own religious faith.
